This race was inaugurated in September, 1970
by Bill Jones. The Ensign skipper winning this race becomes the holder of the
perpetual Around Fishers Island Trophy for the subsequent year until the next
Around Fishers Island Race, which this skipper will have the honor of running.
Any course can be selected for this race, provided it completely encircles
Fishers Island.
